“THE LAST LAND?” the place called DHANUSHKODI is known as the last land of India, the mythological importance of this place is that LORD RAMA traveled to Lanka in search of goddess sita from this place.
A 4×4 journey along the Bay of Bengal in an arid region!!. The dunes and the vegetation in the place is another challenge in its own and this all contributes to the importance and the beauty of the place.
The next thing that will be really good to see is a floating stone, that is kept outside a temple there where you can actually see the stone floating. This can be considered as an answer to all those people who have been raising the question of the existence of “ram setu”
The ruins of the Dhanushkodi railway station is also worth seeing, as in 1964 a cyclone destroyed the station and uprooted the railway track, but the remains are still kept intact to depict the severity of the cyclone. This was the last train line that was ever created and in respect of all the people who lost their loves in the cyclone the railway station was not built again, and it still stands as a memorial of the event.
A place that has no link to the internet, a place where the peacock is too friendly with the humans to be feeding of the hands of a woman, and another place where India lacks in educating as the only thing that the people there do is drive those vehicles to earn a living, and a place where our beloved Ex- president Dr. APJ Abdul kalam came from, is hard to digest.
The place where the water is so silent that you can go in about a kilometer into the sea and the water will be still at your knee height. The silence, the calm, the disconnect from the world just 10 kilometers away , is a beautiful spectacle, the connect of humanity with nature and wildlife is a must feel.
The journey is tiring and is a hard one but when you go to the place and see all of it the tiredness, and the pain in coming there settles to dust and you experience serenity and the beauty of a place where the water speaks and you listen with your eyes closed.
